It tells of American Indians, trappers, explorers, traders, settlers, miners, farmers and growing cities. What makes this area unique is its still intact high-country ranches and its unspoiled meadows. It is also remarkable for its many firsts the first planned auto recreation in a National Forest, some of the first Anglo settlements and cattle ranches in the Rockies, the first colony in Colorado and some of the first Baptist and Lutheran churches in the state.
